Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce held a meeting on market supply, pandemic prevention and control and production safety in the business sector in Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Feb 2.
The meeting was attended by officials from the bureau and commerce departments of county-level cities and counties in Guiyang and Guian New Area and representatives of 42 key companies involved in the supply of daily necessities.
The assembly concluded that Guiyang withstood the test of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The city's growth rate of retail sales of consumer goods reached 6.6 percent. Meanwhile, Guiyang continued to lead Guizhou province in economic growth and its economic growth ranked at the forefront of provincial capitals across China.
Liu Lisha, director of Guiyang's municipal bureau of commerce, made arrangements for market supply guarantee, pandemic prevention and control and production safety in the business sector during the coming Spring Festival holiday from Feb 11 to 17.
She requested that commerce departments across the city urge key supply companies to bolster their reserves of daily necessities and emergency supplies and increase the organization and dispatch of supplies, the stock of daily necessities and pandemic prevention materials. Companies should manage their inventory based on the consumption situation during the holiday to prevent scrambling for goods and sharp price increases.
The two primary agricultural product wholesale markets – Guiyang Agricultural Products Logistics Park and Guiyang Dili Agricultural Products Logistics Park – and all fresh food supermarkets shall remain open during the Spring Festival holiday.
Most shopping malls and supermarkets are enclosed spaces and are expected to see large crowds over the Spring Festival holiday, leading to strict COVID-19 prevention and control measures. Cold chain food companies must strictly implement frozen food inspection and quarantine, request certificates and tickets, and perform regular nucleic acid testing for cold chain workers.
All companies must ensure that their business activities are safe, strengthen the management of promotional activities and prevent safety accidents such as stampedes and fires.
Local commerce authorities should strengthen the investigation of potential safety hazards in crowded places such as shopping malls, supermarkets, wholesale markets and catering venues and promptly urge rectification when problems are discovered.
The meeting also outlined the major commercial work of the city's commerce authorities in 2021. Local commerce authorities, including Guiyang's municipal bureau of commerce, will actively carry out annual consumption promotion activities, increase the holiday market supply and create a preferential and convenient consumption environment.
They will refine and improve various consumption support policies, encourage commercial enterprises to expand their business and stimulate the catering market's potential. Also, they will give targeted services to eliminate the difficulties encountered in the process of corporate development.
