In 2020, the total import and export value of Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was 44.69 billion yuan ($6.92 billion), ranking first in the province and occupying 81.8 percent of the provincial total.
Despite the influence of the novel coronavirus pandemic on the economy, Guiyang's foreign trade has demonstrated faster-than-expected growth. Guiyang's export value was 35.8 billion yuan, and its import value was 8.89 billion yuan in 2020, making the city the only area in Guizhou to exceed 10 billion yuan in foreign trade.
The import and export value of Guiyang Free Trade Zone, Guian Free Trade Zone and Zunyi Free Trade Zone totaled 7.41 billion yuan in 2020, increasing 30.6 percent year-on-year and occupying 13.6 percent of Guizhou's total foreign trade.
