The Guiyang bureau of commerce held a special meeting on Oct 30 on fire safety in old wholesale markets and gas stations in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- presenting the findings from a special study on hidden safety problems and putting forward solutions.
Those attending the meeting included leaders of the Guiyang emergency management bureau, delegates from the Guiyang fire detachment, representatives of the fire brigades in Yunyan district, Nanming district, Huaxi district and Qingzhen city, as well as representatives from Guizhou Xisheng Houfa Technology Co.
At the meeting, the company gave a detailed report on an investigation into fire safety hazards in 13 old and dilapidated wholesale markets and two gas stations in the city.
Other attendees exchanged their views on the investigation, put forward solutions and suggestions to the problems, and provided opinions on fire safety in the field of commerce and trade.
Liu Lisha, director of the Guiyang bureau of commerce, provided a summation of the deliberations and made arrangements for future fire safety control work. Liu emphasized the need to further improve the governance and implementation of various special areas of action, as well as to strengthen overall supervision and create a long-term supervision mechanism.
She urged the senior management of the commerce departments of all districts, county-level city and counties administered by Guiyang to focus on safety in the field of commerce and trade.
Liu said they should organize safety training and drills and strengthen remedial work and joint enforcement on any problems identified in previous investigations, with the goal of doing the best job in fire safety in the field of commerce and trade.
