During the first eight months of this year, the number of newly added market entities in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, reached 83,600, a year-on-year increase of 10.88 percent. This growth has brought the total number of market entities in Guiyang to 610,700, a year-on-year increase of 16.86 percent.

Guiyang has taken measures to support companies to resume work, especially micro-, small- and medium-sized companies, while preventing and controlling the novel coronavirus.

By simplifying the examination and approval procedures, Guiyang has improved government affairs services' efficiency and saved time and money for companies.

To further optimize the business environment, Guiyang offered technical assistance to help market entities enhance their technological ability, improve intellectual property rights services and support companies to secure financing.

By this year, Guiyang has approved 5,658 applications for medical equipment business licenses and tested over 4,580 medical instruments for free. The southwestern city has also added 5,868 new patent applications, 3,658 patent licenses and 10,335 newly registered brands.

Guiyang's market regulation departments conducted 386,700 checks at agricultural markets, pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies and food production and operation companies to stabilize the market price and maintain a fair competition environment. City officials also checked market prices 256,300 times and investigated about 610 cases.

In May, Guiyang's bureau of market supervision and administration released measures to relax examination and approval restrictions and penalties for illegal acts, providing development space for start-up businesses and promoting the healthy growth of new business forms and the new economy.
