A Guiyang city delegation led by Zheng Xuke -- vice-president of the Guiyang branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade -- in August visited foreign consulates, companies and business associations in China in the municipality of Chongqing and in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.
The visit's purpose was to expand the foreign economic and trade exchange network of Guiyang, capital of China's southwest Guizhou province.
It also aimed to learn more about the investment and development of companies from different countries and regions -- including France, Japan, South Korea, Italy and Hong Kong -- in Southwest China and carry out external liaisons and business project matchmaking.
The delegation visited the Consulate General of France in Chengdu, the Consulate General of Japan in Chongqing and the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing.
It visited five business associations, namely the Japan External Trade Organization Chengdu Representative Office, the Korea International Trade Association Chengdu Representative Office, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Chongqing Representative Office and the Chengdu and Chongqing offices of the Korea Trade-investment Promotion Agency.
Guiyang's Zheng gave a briefing on the city's rapid development, expansion of its transport network, foreign exchanges, industrial system, improvements in education and medical care, as well as the major exhibitions and conventions held in Guiyang in recent years -- and the economic and trade exchanges between Guiyang and related countries.
The city's key investment projects were also promoted to the business associations, consular business organizations and enterprises at symposiums during the visit. They were invited to the city to investigate it for themselves and jointly organize activities, to expand exchanges and commerce.
The foreign institutions and business associations expressed their keen interest in the rapid development of Guiyang in recent years, lauding the city especially for its opening-up.
