The Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- recently launched moves in the business and commerce sectors to help alleviate poverty, according to local officials.
Liu Lisha, director of the Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce, heard about the production and marketing of agricultural products last year and the city's work plan for 2020 at a seminar themed on poverty alleviation on April 13.
Liu emphasized at the seminar that the Guiyang commerce bureau will continue to focus on improving the supply of agricultural products, strengthening the weak links in the cold chain and promote the development of rural e-commerce -- to deepen the reform of the agricultural product supply system and further promote poverty alleviation in 2020.
On April 17, a delegation from the Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce led by Liu went to Wangyuan village in Liuchang town in Qingzhen city.
The delegation went there to investigate a local earthworm breeding base and survey the local work and problems in education, drinking water, housing and income.
Liu recognized the achievements of local industry projects -- including earthworm and cattle breeding and organic fertilizer production -- and said that these projects had good market prospects.
She expressed the hope that the village could continue to strengthen its industry development targeting poverty alleviation and help lift locals out of poverty as soon as possible.
Liu said that the commerce bureau will use its advantages in the field of commerce to help the village in the production and marketing of agricultural products.
It will also help solve the difficulties of the village in education, housing and medical care.
