Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a promotional meeting on April 14, designed to help stimulate a recovery of sales in the catering industry, according to local officials.
Among those attending the meeting were representatives of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce, the Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce and the Guizhou Branch of China Mobile Communications Group Co (China Mobile).
Others attending also included the Guizhou branch of Chinese internet giant Tencent, provincial and municipal catering industry associations and more than 100 catering companies.
Top officials in the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce and the Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Commerce gave presentations on policies being introduced by commerce departments to support the catering industry.
Officials said that the commercial departments will provide funds for catering enterprises participating in the promotion and they encouraged companies to launch their own marketing promotions based on their operating conditions.
Officials said representatives of the catering enterprises all signed commitment letters to participate in the promotion.
Guiyang launched a gourmet promotions activity last weekend, which included sending messages about consumption coupons via China Mobile to over 26 million China Mobile customers, in a move to stimulate a recovery in sales of catering companies.
Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce next plans to organize catering sales promotions for the coming May Day and Dragon Boat Festival holidays.
