Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhuo province -- is encouraging its living services industry to help accelerate the city's broader digital transformation by supporting merchants to migrate their online business onto e-commerce platforms, according to a notice issued recently by Guiyang municipal bureau of commerce.
Digital transformation of living services is a term that refers to the digitalized supply and production of services for consumers in their daily lives. The rise of living services has been described as the third wave of the digital revolution. Experts say they enable everyday objects and places -- daily necessities, transport, homes and workplaces -- to become more intelligent and useful to customers.
The bureau said the city will promote online sales of all categories of living services products. Offline retailers can expand their online sales channels through e-commerce platforms. All kinds of businesses concerning fruits and vegetables, fresh ingredients, medicines, daily necessities, stationery and electronic products can quickly register on e-commerce platforms and provide city-wide distribution for residents.
Meanwhile, Guiyang's municipal government has moved to solve the problem posed by employees in companies and institutions eating meals together -- by ordering that online orders and direct deliveries are made, to avoid group gatherings during dining amid the epidemic.
The city is encouraging more fresh food supermarkets, agricultural markets, commercial complexes, shopping malls and department stores to enter e-commerce platforms. Consumers can then shop at home and enjoy home delivery services.
Centralized distribution sites will be set up in residential areas and at office buildings, to facilitate the deliver changeover, officials said.
Meanwhile, the health information of the delivery people and the disinfection status of dishware will be presented to recipients electronically, to ensure that the food safety information is visible and traceable throughout the distribution system.
