In recent years, Kaiyang county has reaped numerous benefits from tea cultivation. With an annual output of dried tea leaves exceeding 5,500 metric tons, the county's annual tea production is worth nearly 1.58 billion yuan ($221.52 million).
On Nov 14, CCID Consulting released the "2023 Top 100 Western County Economies Research" report, which included Kaiyang county, along with 9 other counties and cities from Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Kaiyang county in Guiyang reported annualized GDP growth of 9.3 percent in the first three quarters, beating all rivals in the city by this metric.
A total of 16 agricultural products from Guizhou province were included in the third group of nationally-renowned and superior new agricultural products in 2023, which was recently released by the Quality and Safety Center of Agricultural and Rural Affairs Department. Among them was Kaiyang county's green tea.
The Guizhou provincial government recently issued the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the High-Quality Development of the County Economy", according to a press conference held on Dec 6.
In recent years, Shizi village in Kaiyang county has leveraged technology to empower local selenium-rich rice cultivation, making villagers more prosperous.
