Jiu'an township's ancient tea trees drive prosperity for locals

With a forest coverage rate of 68.16 percent, Jiu'an township in Huaxi district boasts an excellent ecological environment and abundant cultural and tourism resources.

The township is home to more than 54,000 ancient tea trees, including over 14,000 that are over 1,000 years old.

In recent years, the township has leveraged local conditions to revitalize idle resources such as unused rural houses and land, developing distinctive businesses centered on residential retreats and wellness tourism.

Drawing on local ethnic traditions, a range of cultural and creative products and tea culture experience programs has been developed. The township also regularly hosts featured activities, including tea-picking experiences, tea banquet tastings, rural study tours, and bonfire parties.

By unlocking the value of idle rural resources, Jiu'an township has spurred the growth of diverse industries such as homestay retreats, agricultural product sales, and rural services, broadening channels for villagers to find employment close to home and increase their incomes on the path to prosperity.
