Qingyan Ancient Town

With a history spanning more than 600 years, Qingyan Ancient Town is one of Guizhou's four best-preserved ancient towns. Originally built as a military fortress during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to defend China's southwestern frontier, it also flourished as an important branch of the Ancient Tea Horse Road.

Today, visitors can wander through winding stone-paved streets lined with well-preserved residences from the Ming and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, where centuries of history are preserved. Climb Dingguang Gate for panoramic views of the town or visit in summer when lotus flowers bloom beside the ancient walls, adding a touch of elegance to the historic landscape.

Qingyan is also a paradise for food lovers. Local specialties such as braised pig's trotters, fried tofu balls and rice tofu have become signature delicacies enjoyed by generations of visitors. Blending traditional Chinese architecture with Western influences, the town preserves a rich legacy of traditional culture, religion, military history and revolutionary heritage, making it one of Guizhou's most valuable historical and cultural destinations.

· Location: Qingyan town, Huaxi district, Guiyang

· Transportation: Take Metro Line 3 to Huaxi Park Station, then transfer to a public bus or tourist shuttle bound for Qingyan Ancient Town.

· Opening hours:

Apr 1–Oct 31: 8:10 am–5:40 pm (last admission at 5:40 pm)

Nov 1–Mar 31: 8:30 am–5 pm (last admission at 5 pm)

· Admission:

General admission: 10 yuan ($1.47) (excluding individual attractions) 

Combined ticket (including all attractions): 60 yuan

· Recommended visit: 3–5 hours
