Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 22.62 million tourists in 2022, generating 26.52 billion yuan ($3.85 billion) in tourism revenue.
Over the past year, Huaxi polished its tourism profile as one of China's top 100 tourism districts, top 100 examples of nighttime economic prosperity, and a provincial sports tourism demonstration county.
The district implemented 12 tourism projects last year. The Guizhou Tourism Distribution Center (Qingyan) and Huaxi Tourism Ring Line, the first phase of Long March National Cultural Park (Huaxi Section), Shanleming Sports Challenge Park and Xiangxianli (East District) were completed and put into operation. The transportation infrastructure of Qingyan Ancient Town scenic area was continuously optimized, and Qingyan Xunfang Street was opened.

The district also saw an increase in the diversity of tourism businesses and activities in 2022. Camping, cycling, rock climbing, racing, and skiing were highly popular among visitors. Qingyan Ancient Town scenic area was classified as a provincial cultural and tourism integration innovation demonstration project, Tianhetan scenic area was classified as a provincial nighttime consumption cluster, and Shizi Street was classified as a provincial night food block.
The quality of local tourism improved as well. The district introduced and built two Holiday Inn hotels, developed five rural travel routes and four travel routes related to the history of the Communist Party of China, and launched WeChat applet of "Huaxi Tourism".
