The opening ceremony for the first Guizhou Quanminxing Folk Song, Folk Music, and Ethnic Dance Talent Competition was held on April 13 at the Tianhetan Scenic Area in Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

During the ceremony, contestants presented splendid performances that showcased the charm of outstanding traditional culture, including song performances of "Guizhou in the Classic of Tea" and "Yangguan Sandie". Some performances featuring displays of local Guizhou culture were performed by people of the Dong ethnic group and Miao ethnic group.

Wang Weiwei, a young local singer, said that as a native of Huaxi, she was glad to see such a flourishing development of culture and art in her hometown. And it's believed that the launch of the Quanminxing talent competition will unearth cultural and artistic talent resources in Huaxi. These talents can then be nurtured and strengthened.

Xu Xinggang, vice-director of the organizing committee of the competition, stated that the competition is expected to use the preliminary auditions to provide a comprehensive stage for every "Great Star" from Guizhou, thereby promoting the province's colorful culture.
