Huaxi ranks first in holiday tourists

During the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, Huaxi district in Guiyang received 1.23 million visits, a year-on-year increase of 79.57 percent, making it the top district citywide in terms of number of tourists. The district's tourism revenue soared 98.5 percent to 856 million yuan ($118.90 million).

Compared to the same period last year, multiple of the district's scenic spots saw a staggering increase in tourists. Shizi Street received the most visits, at 549,000, while the Yelang Valley reported the sharpest growth, at 350.31 percent.

During the period, Huaxi held 40 events consisting of 138 activities, including a floral boat parade in Huaxi Park, traditional dragon and lion dances and roadside concerts on Shizhi Street, and firework shows in Tianhetan Scenic Area.

In addition, as the popularity of ice and snow tourism continues to rise, Gaopo Genting Ski Resort, as the closest outdoor ski resort to downtown Guiyang, has become an attractive destination.

During the holiday period, the ski resort received over 5,000 visits, generating 405,000 yuan in ticket revenue, with its total income reaching 513,000 yuan.
