Huaxi achieves strong results in socio-economic development in 2023

Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, made remarkable accomplishments in various aspects in 2023, including industrial development, rural vitalization and urban transformation and renewal.

Last year, the total output value of the district's electronic information manufacturing industry, its largest industry, saw a year-on-year growth of 54.7 percent. Meanwhile, the total output value of the eco-friendly specialty foods industry, another important industry in the district, exceeded 600 million yuan ($83.40 million).

During the period, the district saw the emergence of three industrial enterprises above designated size, five provincial-level innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and three specialized and sophisticated SMEs.

A total of 88 projects were introduced, along with 25 strong enterprises. Industrial funds in place amounted to 4.01 billion yuan, constituting 42.02 percent of the industrial sector. Additionally, 11 strong projects in the digital economy were introduced, along with six software companies. The operating income for the software and information technology services industry saw a 30.7 percent increase.

In rural vitalization, the district focused on promoting agricultural development. Local agricultural products were recognized at various levels. "Hua Xiao Mei" – the district's strawberry brand – became one of the year's top 20 most popular strawberry public brands in the region and became an annual nationally recognized popular strawberry enterprise brand. Rapid development benefited rural residents, with their per capita disposable income increasing by 8 percent.

Meanwhile, the district attached great importance to improving the rural environment. In 2023, it renovated the houses of 1,200 rural households, revitalized 150 idle farmhouses, and completed two rural water-supplying projects and 14 sewage treatment projects.

It also built or renovated one agricultural and trade market, added 2,252 parking spaces, and renovated 1,072 households in shantytown areas, 3,961 households in old neighborhoods, and eight back alleys. Additionally, a new pedestrian overpass was built, and the urban renewal and transformation project in the Xujiachong area was launched.
