Huaxi rock climbing team performs well in 14th Guiyang Games

The rock climbing team from Huaxi district won 21 medals, including six gold medals, at the rock climbing event in the 14th Guiyang Games in Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Dec 4. 

More than 60 rock climbing athletes from Nanming, Yunyan, Guanshanhu and Huaxi districts competed in bouldering, speed, and mixed speed relay events at Guiyang Jingxue Affiliated Experimental School in Huaxi district.

This was the first time that rock climbing was introduced to the Guiyang municipal games and the school is the first one in the city to offer rock climbing courses. 

Since its establishment one and a half years ago, the school has been committed to integrating physical and cultural education, and has become a sports talent reserve school for Guizhou province. Its students shine at various sports competitions at city and provincial level.

"The school has employed high-quality physical education teachers and coaches who have been engaged in youth training for a long time," said Principal Cheng Huayong.

"In the future, we will continue to invest in curriculum research and development, sports venue construction, and talent introduction," said Tian Ye, party secretary of the school.
