Longjing village in Huaxi district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has implemented measures to become a beautiful village with developing industry, effective governance and improved livability.

Long De, top official of Longjing village, said that the village once had more than 360 households and more than 1,300 residents.

Due to the extensive manufacturing within the area and the villagers' non-green lifestyle, the village became a polluted and chaotic area.

In 2011, Huaxi district identified Longjing village as a folk village experience area. This started the changes that Longjing village benefits till now. Huaxi renovated the village's roads, sewage ditches, drinking water pipe network, public lighting and other facilities.

After renovation and upgrading, Longjing has been awarded the titles of National Civilized Village and Town, Characteristic Village of Chinese Ethnic Groups, National Beautiful and Livable Demonstration Village, National Rural Governance Demonstration Village, and National Key Rural Tourism Demonstration Village.

The village established the Guizhou Youyou Baifang Tourism Management Co which now carries out scenic spot upgrading, industrialization and brand building for the area.

The village's increasing popularity has attracted more tourists, and the increasing visitors have boosted the catering and accommodation industries.

So far, there are 17 farmhouses, five homestays and 14 Bouyei ethnic group workshops in the village. Last year, the village received 110,000 tourist visits and achieved tourism revenue of about 7 million yuan ($997,133). The per capita disposable income of the village has increased from less than 7,000 yuan in 2011 to nearly 30,000 yuan now.

"Longjing will continue to make efforts so that more people can benefit from industrial development," Long said.
