Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has seen results in developing a livable, business-friendly and attractive tourist destination in the first half of 2022.
To promote new-type urbanization, Huaxi has taken measures focusing on urban planning, expanding the urban economy, improving urban carrying capacity, urban quality and urban governance capabilities, and integrating urban and rural development.
The district has started preparing 50 village space plans, approved and implemented 12 special plans for the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) of development, and completed the industrial development plan of the Huaxi Shiban Industrial park and space planning of the Mengguan Modern Trade and Logistics Park.
During this period, 1.89 billion yuan ($277.39 million) in industrial investment was in place in the district, a year-on-year increase of 142.75 percent, and 3.71 billion yuan was in place for newly introduced industrial projects.
The district has relaxed policies for establishing projects and simplified the process of establishing projects. In the first half of the year, the district's permanent resident population increased by about 10,000.
To attract more talent, the district implemented a series of policies and established a diversified supply channel for talent housing. From January to June, 4,635 college graduates, 675 professionals in the manufacturing industry, 390 professionals in the big data industry, and 853 professionals in rural practical affairs obtained employment.
To improve public services, the district has built two public kindergartens, a one-stop service center at Huaxi District People's Hospital, and three nursery institutions. In addition, 152 schools opened sports venues to the public free of charge.
Huaxi has added 3,110 public parking spaces, completed the renovation of 1,196 shantytowns and 2,088 old communities, and started reconstructing 40 backstreets and alleys. Several impassable roads have been unblocked as well. Five kilometers of sewage pipes have been built and three km of sewage pipe networks have been repaired, keeping the urban domestic sewage treatment rate above 98 percent.
In addition, Huaxi has built 186 domestic garbage collection stations, demolished 283,800 square meters of various illegal structures, and completed the renovation of public toilets in Songtao Road and Yuanting Road.
