Raorao village – in Gaopo township of Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is making big moves to boost its rural tourism.
It has recently upgraded its facilities for camping, especially those with greater space and privacy, even adding ones with open-air roofs to appreciate sky.

Camping fever in the village has given tourists memorable experiences and boosted the incomes of locals.
Since 2019, with the support and guidance of the district's government, the farmers in the village have operated farm stays, boosting the surrounding tourism sector.
The village's camping base has also regularly hired locals during the tourism season, which further boosts their income and living standards.

According to Chen Wenxiao, a member of staff at Guiyang Huaxi Hongyungu Agricultural Tourism Development and Management Co, villagers are invited to stage ethnic performances at bonfire parties every Saturday at the village's camping base.
In addition, a new hotel at the camping base will soon be open to the public, offering visitors more accommodation, Chen added.
