Huaxi starts construction on modern strawberry industrial park

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Huaxi Strawberry Planting Industry Demonstration Park was held in Qingyan town of Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on June 17.

The park, which is being funded and constructed by Guizhou Gaoyuan Strawberry Planting Industry Technology Co, will integrate strawberry detoxification tissue culture, original seed domestication, new variety cultivation demonstration and breeding, and the display of strawberry industry culture. 

It will consist of one detoxified strawberry seedling tissue culture room, a 666-square-meter strawberry original stock domestication center, a 1,800-sq-m breeding center for strawberry detoxification first-generation seedlings, a 4,000-sq-m five-color new strawberry variety cultivation and breeding center, and a strawberry seedling breeding and cultivation demonstration base covering more than 20,000 sq m.

Integrated water and fertilizer facilities, a strawberry industry culture exhibition hall, cold storage warehouses, a sorting and packaging center, and a research base will also be built.

The park is expected to produce 3.5 million high-quality detoxified strawberry seedlings every year.

After the completion of the park, the construction company will cooperate with the Ifresh Asian Fruit and Vegetable Industry Expo in Shanghai, the Horticultural Research Institute of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Guiyang University, and Kaili Vocational and Technical College to enhance the brand competitiveness of the Huaxi Strawberry, contributing to the district's rural vitalization and high-quality economic development.
