Huaxi district in Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, achieved a great socioeconomic development in 2021.

Industry

Over the past year, the district carried out targeted investment promotions through various events and platforms, advanced cluster development of industries, and formed an industrial pattern featuring accelerated transformation of traditional industries, rapid growth of emerging industries, and boom of modern manufacturing and modern service industries.

The district had 2 billion yuan ($314.45 million) of industrial investment in place and 12 new industrial enterprises above designated size (those with annual revenues of 20 million yuan or more). It built and put 289,000 square meters of standard workshops into use. Thirty-nine new industrial projects were introduced to the district last year with 1.82 billion yuan of funds in place.

Urbanization

Huaxi started the construction of three 15-minute living circles, added 19 parking lots, renovated and upgraded two farm produce markets, and completed the renovation of 3,341 dilapidated houses in shanty areas, 2,017 apartments in old communities, and 30 back streets and alleys. It also started the reconstruction of two transport hubs.

Agriculture

Over the past year, Huaxi expanded the scale of its strawberry industry, and promoted its rural revitalization and agricultural modernization.

The strawberry planting area in the district exceeded 200 hectares, with an annual output of about 4,500 metric tons and an output value of about 250 million yuan. The strawberry industry created more than 1,100 jobs and helped 130,000 farmers work last year.

The district also promoted the adjustment of an agricultural industrial structure developing vegetables, fruits, tea, eggs, and other locally featured agricultural products. Last year, its grain sowing area reached 5,533 ha and the district added 600 ha of high-standard farmland.

Tourism

Huaxi continued to optimize its cultural tourism infrastructure, improve public cultural services, strengthen the cultivation of cultural tourism products, and boost cultural tourism consumption in 2021.

The district launched the "tourism + health care" project in local Shanwangmiao village and completed Huaxi International Mountain Sports and Leisure Resort planning.
