The first session of the 18th Huaxi District People's Congress opened on Jan 7 in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, with 228 deputies attending.
During the gathering, Yu Yang, deputy secretary of the district's Party committee and head of Huaxi district, delivered the government's work report for 2021, reviewed progress made over the past five years and set goals for 2022 and the next five years.
Yu said that in 2021, epidemic prevention and control and the socioeconomic development of Huaxi have been promoted.
New targets for the district's social and economic development in 2022 were announced at the session: Regional GDP and industrial added value should increase 9 percent and 11 percent year-on-year, respectively; investment in fixed assets should grow 10 percent; the total retail sales of consumer goods should increase 8.5 percent; the general public budget revenue should increase 2 percent; and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural permanent residents should grow 10 percent and 12 percent, respectively.
Deputies also examined the report on the implementation of the 2021 national economic and social development plan released by Huaxi's government, the 2022 national economic and social development draft plan, the implementation of the district's financial budgets in 2021 and budgets for 2022, and passed the election method for the first session of the 18th Huaxi District People's Congress.
