A Miao embroidery product training activity was launched in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Oct 23, hosted by the Guiyang ethnic and religious affairs commission and Guizhou Qiancuixing Ethnic Culture Development Co.
The activity was meant to promote Huaxi Miao embroidery, help local farmers consolidate their achievements in poverty alleviation, and protect ethnic intangible heritage crafts.

Embroidery practice, skills improvement, market guidance, product quality standards, ingenuity, and information exchange were the focuses of the activity.
The training attracted nearly 70 villagers near Qiantao township in Huaxi. "After participating in the training, I have new ideas for embroidery methods, materials and colors," said one villager.
Huaxi is the home of the Miao and Bouyei ethnic group. Cross-stitch embroidery, a specialty of the Huaxi Miao ethnic group, was included in the first national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006, and its crafts and patterns are well-known.
The activity will promote Miao embroidery craftsmanship in the market, promote Miao embroidery cultural products, and help with rural revitalization.
