Huaxi No 2 Middle School opens new area

The new school area of Huaxi No 2 Middle School in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, opened on Sept 1.

It is the first prefabricated green building demonstration school in Guizhou, with a total area of 25 mu (1.67 hectares) and a total construction area of 20,108 square meters.

Built by China Construction Science & Technology Group Co, the school consists of 24 classes and can accommodate 1,200 students.

It used an integrated "assembly-style" construction model, which not only reduces the need for building materials, but also saved 60 percent on labor costs and shortened the total construction period by about 20 percent.
