Huaxi launches reading promotion event

A reading promotion event was launched on April 17 at a bookstore in Qingyan Ancient Town in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, with a series of lectures on culture, art and philosophy.

Gu Jiu, chief editor of Guizhou Literature Library, gave a keynote speech on the "Cultural Spirit from the Standards of Excellent Teachers at Home and Abroad".

He said that top-flight teachers were essentially shaping society and the future spiritual culture of people.

The event was broadcast live on platforms including Kuaishou, Douyin, WeChat and Xigua.

Qingyan is one of the four famous renowned historical and cultural towns in Guizhou. It has a recorded history spanning more than 600 years, with a rich cultural atmosphere stretching to ancient times.

The town has reputedly witnessed historical and cultural changes in the course of its development over hundreds of years.

The ongoing reading promotion activities are expected to raise the profile of Qingyan and attract more visitors to the ancient town.
