Huaxi district in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has now achieved full 5G network coverage network in key areas, including the main urban area, Guizhou University, Guizhou Minzu University, Guizhou City Vocational College, Shiban, Mengguan and Qingyan towns.
From the second half of last year, the Huaxi branch of China Mobile has invested 182 million yuan ($25.96 million), completing the laying of 57.62 kilometers of optical cable and installing some 366 5G base stations.
Officials said 5G network users do not need to change their numbers, phone cards, or apply for registration. As long as they change to 5G mobile phones, they can experience 5G services.
In addition, the Huaxi branch of China Telecom has installed 134 5G base stations in the district and is launching a series of preferential services related to 5G network.
When users upgrade to the 5G network -- whether they download movies and software, or play games -- the speed will be more than 10 times that of 4G.
Officials said that Huaxi district will continue to promote the rollout of 5G and achieve integration of the 5G network with scenic spots, government affairs operations and smart cities.
