The Southern Power Big Data Center project broke ground in Guian New Area of Southwest China's Guizhou province on June 17.
With a total investment of 1.45 billion yuan ($201.52 million), the project can accommodate about 100,000 standard servers and is constructed as part of the Southern Power Grid Digital Industry Ecological Park.
The first phase of the project plans to invest about 800 million yuan to build 2,000 cabinets (10 kilowatts) and supporting facilities over a construction period of three to five years.
China Southern Power Grid was established in December 2002. As a key State-owned enterprise, it provides power supply services for Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hainan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
The power supply area covers 1 million square kilometers, serving a population of 272 million people and 113 million households. As of 2022, the company had been ranked among the Fortune Global 500 for 18 consecutive years.
In December 2022, the Southern Power Big Data Center project was officially signed. It will support the digital development of China Southern Power Grid and other ecosystem partners in the government and digital industries, enhancing the government's modern governance level, and promoting the development of digital and low-carbon economies.
