Qingzhen county-level city in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has implemented the intelligent emergency traffic signal light uninterruptible power supply system (IETSP) to ensure the safety of traffic in the city.
"Since the IETSP went operational three months ago, it has ensured the safe and orderly passage of vehicles and pedestrians at major intersections in the city," said Liu Tao, deputy instructor of Guiyang municipal traffic police brigade.
In January of this year, Guizhou's first IETSP, jointly developed by Qingzhen traffic police and Guizhou Tiandi Weiyi Digital Technology Co, was officially put into service.
The system uses products such as lithium batteries and intelligent monitoring systems to equip traffic signal lights with backup power. In the event of a sudden interruption of municipal power, the backup power can be activated within milliseconds to ensure proper operation of traffic lights for about seven hours, meeting the power supply needs of traffic signal lights.
The IETSP also has an automatic alarm function, which sends notification to the traffic police command center backend and relevant technicians immediately, so that they arrive on the scene as quickly as possible.
Since Jan 13, when the system was put into use in nine intersections with heavy traffic flow in Qingzhen, it has passed eight municipal sudden power outages, effectively reducing delays and improving traffic efficiency.
This year, the Qingzhen traffic police department will gradually promote the installation of IETSP at signal light intersections along the city's main roads to increase the efficiency of road traffic.
