Guiyang's digital economy accounts for more than 44% of GDP

In 2022, big data departments in Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province were devoted to the construction of a core area of the digital economy development innovation zone, and saw their digital economies account for more than 44 percent of Guiyang's GDP.

Last year, the number of big data market entities in Guiyang and Guian increased by 572 year-on-year, with the total number reaching 5,670. The business revenue of cloud services was 53.99 billion yuan ($7.92 billion), an increase of 166.5 percent year-on-year.

Focusing on data centers, internet facilities and digital scenarios, Guiyang and Guian attracted 11 data centers, had 296,000 servers in operation, increased the length of communication optical cables by 13,300 kilometers, and constructed 7,302 5G base stations in 2022.

At the same time, Guiyang held the Big Data Expo 2022 online, and increased the popularity of the Global Big Data Exchange, Guiyang big data sci-tech city, and the Guizhou Big Data Experience Center in 2022.

In the future, Guiyang and Guian's big data departments will give full play to national policies on the data element market, focus on data elements and computing power, and continue to build the core area of the digital economy development innovation zone.
