Amid the recent COVID-19 outbreak, communication operators in Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – organized teams of technicians to guarantee the smooth operations of their communication networks.

The teams worked hard to expand the capacity of the systems and tested network pressures, detecting network signals at each nucleic acid testing station. They solved the problems encountered by pandemic prevention workers, to guarantee a high-speed, stable and safe network environment for medics and community workers.

By 3 pm on Sept 5, Guiyang had sent out 309 communication support vehicles, 202 network optimization workers, 549 equipment maintenance staff members and 907 transmission maintenance personnel.

They handled 30 network hidden threats, expanded the capacity of eight base stations and opened one new base station. They are also monitoring the 6,593 4G base stations and 3,136 5G stations in Guiyang's areas under pandemic prevention and control.

Currently, Guiyang's communication network is running smoothly, according to tests, while the 4G and 5G networks in each nucleic acid testing area are stable.
