During the first half of this year, the number of big data companies increased by 317 in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – while the total output value generated by the electronics information manufacturing industry above a designated size rose 22.2 percent year-on-year.

Currently, Guiyang has 5,502 big data companies, with 17 data centers operating or under construction. As a result, Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area have become a hub for the national integrated computing power network.

Meanwhile, Guiyang is encouraging the development of the electronics information manufacturing sector and the software and information technology service industry. The first sector has maintained rapid development and enhanced its supply chain for electronics components, intelligent terminals and servers.

During the first six months, the total output value of the electronics information manufacturing industry above a designated size was 19.29 billion yuan ($2.79 billion), with related companies above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – increasing from 76 in 2021 to 86.

Over the same period, Guiyang's business revenue from the software and information service industry was 31.8 billion yuan, a surge of 111.7 percent year-on-year and it accounted for a massive 95.1 percent of the province's total.

Since Guiyang's government data sharing platform was established, the amount and frequency of data acquired and shared between government departments have increased significantly year by year.

By June, data had been acquired 7.87 million times in the year to date between government departments, up 91 percent on the previous corresponding period.
