Guiyang, Guian boost 5G development

The city of Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – are continuing to boost their development of 5G, after having installed 6,231 5G base stations in 2021, realizing full 5G network coverage in main areas, roads and transport junctions.

The two are said to have been successfully promoting the integration of 5G technology within industry, transportation and medical treatment.

They implemented 43 5G application projects last year involving advanced manufacturing, the smart city, smart transportation, smart medical treatment, smart education and smart business circles.

Several 5G application projects were selected as excellent cases by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, while some of them are said to have made breakthroughs for the region's industrial transformation and upgrading.

In the future, Guiyang and Guian will further improve their communications infrastructure, increase investment in 5G construction, accelerate the integration of 5G with other industries, promote the large-scale commercial use of 5G and help create an optimal environment for the continued development of the network.

Moving forwards, in the current year, Guiyang and Guian plan to cover more tourist attractions with the 5G network and build industrial internet platforms with major companies.

They also plan to promote the construction of 5G-related industrial parks, build a digital economy development and innovation zone in Guizhou, and accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system led by the digital economy.
