Guiyang, Guian seek strong development of digital economies

Guiyang city – the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – and Guian New Area have moved decisively to advance the high-quality development of the local real economy as well as the digital economy, according to Guiyang bureau of big data development and management director Wu Hongchun.

Over the past five years, both have poured great resources into promoting innovation of big data and pursuing industry digitalization, Wu added.

In so doing, Guiyang has achieved a continual upgrade as a digital city, with leapfrog developments in digital infrastructure construction. In addition, its reputation as a center for big data expos and as a China big data valley has inexorably risen, both at home and abroad.

Now, the Guiyang bureau of big data development and management is reportedly rolling out four new measures designed to further stimulate growth of the digital economy.

Its top priority is innovation of big data, which calls for deep innovation in theories, laws and regulations, standards and technology. Guiyang is also placing emphasis on moving forward in crucial fields covering data rights confirmations, digital government, digital security and data transactions.

In addition, Guiyang will try to develop a digital industry system that focuses on building data center clusters, electronic information manufacturing and software, information technology, as well as commercializing technological achievements.

When it comes to the data-driven market, Guiyang will pick up the pace in building a public data resource service platform and will also move to optimize the circulation of data.

Last but not least, revolving around the application of big data, Guiyang will start with an industrial internet innovative applications demonstration base and seek continual digital transformation and upgrading.

With 2021 marking the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Guiyang and Guian are reportedly both striving for high-quality development in their digital economies.
