The Guiyang Health Care Big Data Governance Platform recently started operating, according to the Guiyang Bureau of Health – based in the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – and there are expectations that it will make a major difference to healthcare in the region.
The platform covers 130 municipal hospitals and community health service stations, having collected information on more than 16.71 million patients and 46.24 million cases.
Since 2019, the Guiyang Bureau of Health has prepared for the establishment of the platform – designed to enhance the governance of health care data -- with the help of Guiyang Big Data Industry Group Co and medical artificial intelligence technology company Yidu Cloud.
Thanks to the development of the big data health industry, Guiyang reportedly greatly improved the efficiency of its epidemic prevention and control measures during the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The city has accelerated the construction and applications for intelligent medical engineering, to conduct accurate and systematic tracking and analysis on huge amounts of patient information. It has also promoted the construction of medical data infrastructure, such as electronic medical records and electronic prescriptions.
The Guiyang Bureau of Health is known to have been working on the construction of a local health care knowledge base and a health care record system featuring the life cycles of residents. It has also developed a digital operation supervision system, to help medical institutions effectively use their health care data.
