Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – has made remarkable achievements in the high-quality development of its industrial economy, through the integration of big data and the real economy during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), officials told a news conference on Nov 13.

Data from the Guiyang Bureau of Industry and Information Technology showed that since 2016 the city invested 219.5 billion yuan ($33.41 billion) in the transformation and upgrading of 537 industrial companies and 581 industrial projects, to enhance their innovative abilities and market competitiveness.

As of October this year, the city had 14 enterprise technology centers at the national level and 122 at the provincial level. It was also home to seven technological innovation demonstration enterprises at the national level and 26 at the provincial level.

The city has implemented the province's plan to promote the integration of big data and manufacturers since 2018. The plan aims to help them and projects to improve their economic benefits through intelligent technologies.

A number of benchmark projects have emerged and 83.5 percent of the city's manufacturers above a designated size - those with annual revenue of over 20 million yuan - have accessed cloud services.

In the next five years, the city will accelerate its development of a new industrialized system that is high-end, eco-friendly and intensive.
