Guiyang Xinjie Technology Co Ltd launched a mobile application on July 27 during a product release by the 2020 China International Big Data Industry Expo in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – to help the city achieve smart transport faster through the use of a face recognition, according to local officials.

Jiang Peng, the company's vice president, said that the app is a collection of internet, traffic and artificial intelligence technology and it offers intelligent and innovative services to help passengers experience comfortable and convenient trips.

According to Jiang, the smartphone app Yiying Qianxing can be used in all the stations of the Guiyang Metro Line 1 and the 25 stations of the Guiyang BRT.

Citizens only need to download the app and then register it to link it with their bank cards. They check in by looking at the face recognition machines or showing the QR code, enjoying a 10 percent discount on tickets.

In addition, passengers can check the metro schedule and the locations of convenient facilities including toilets, elevators, emergency exits and automatic ticket offices. They can also check station exits and surrounding bus lines, for convenient and fast transfers.

Officials said it is worth mentioning that the app has adopted a face recognition algorithm that ranked first at the Face Recognition Vendor Test for three consecutive years. The app was developed under the guidance of the national industry department, to protect user personal privacy and information security.

Despite the suspension of the 2020 China International Big Data Industry Expo due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the expo's organizing committee launched a global communications campaign in Guiyang on May 26 to promote the big data industry, officials said.

They said that as a key part of the global communications campaign, the Big Data Expo Release aimed to establish an exchange and exhibition platform for the world's innovative technologies.

It will host online and offline launches for enterprises between the 26th and 29th of each month until September 30.

Officials said its launches will focus on big data industry standards, cutting-edge theoretical results, as well as big data technologies, projects and products.
