Guiyang reveals 3rd batch of 20 downtown historic buildings

Guiyang has released the third batch of its historic building list for the downtown area, adding 20 buildings with distinctive historical value to the city's official protection system. The move aims to preserve precious historical remains in old neighborhoods and streets while safeguarding the city's cultural heritage.

The newly listed historic buildings are mainly located in the core areas of Yunyan and Nanming districts, covering key cultural preservation areas such as the Wenchang Pavilion Historic and Cultural Block and the heritage corridor along the Guancheng River. The buildings span nearly a century of history, reflecting different stages of Guiyang's urban development.

The list includes a diverse range of structures, from traditional street shops and ancient architectural facilities to modern-era broadcasting and television sites, industrial workshops, workers' dormitories, educational memorial structures, urban bridges, and landmark buildings from the reform and opening-up period. These include the shop at No 35 Caijia Street, the binding workshop building of Guizhou Xinhua Printing Factory, and the former telecommunications building.

The Guiyang bureau of housing and urban-rural development will carry out follow-up work, including surveying and documentation, installing protection plaques, preserving architectural features, and renovating the newly recognized historic buildings in compliance with regulations.
