Guiyang conducted inspections of old and hazardous urban housing throughout the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), with a focus on densely populated areas. A total of 767 buildings, comprising approximately 8,700 units, were identified as unsafe, providing a comprehensive assessment of housing safety risks across the city.

The identified buildings were addressed through various approaches, including demolition and reconstruction, structural reinforcement, and incorporation into urban village redevelopment projects. A total of 5,485 units had renovated through urban renewal initiatives, while an additional 2,481 units had repaired or demolished with funding allocated by local governments.

By the end of 2025, Guiyang had completed city-wide housing statistics, documenting a total of 702,176 buildings, including 112,723 on State-owned land and 589,453 on collective land. Unified archiving of this data has created a comprehensive housing information database, including details on location, construction type, and year of completion, which serves as a valuable resource for urban disaster prevention and grassroots governance.
