Guiyang's libraries and bookstores offer refuge from summer heat

As the summer vacation comes to an end, the Guizhou Provincial Library, the Guiyang Children's Library, the Zhongshuge Bookstore, and other libraries and bookstores are still bustling with activity.

People engrossed in books have filled the city with the smell of literature and created an infectious atmosphere for nationwide reading.

At the Guizhou Provincial Library, the cool air shields people from the outdoor heat. The library offers a spacious, bright and comfortable environment with shelves filled with a variety of books.

Readers browse the shelves, select their desired books or sit down to read. Recently, there has been a surge in visitors coming for self-study, mostly university students and young examinees.

To provide readers with a more comfortable reading environment, the library has optimized services, ensuring that water dispensers, self-service borrowing and returning machines and digital reading devices are functioning properly.

At the Guiyang Children's Library, the uniquely designed toy book house, picture book house, and digital reading experience area are filled with children and accompanying parents immersed in reading.

Established in January 2015, the Guiyang Children's Library is the first public library in Guizhou aimed at children and teenagers. In December 2020, the new building of the Guiyang Children's Library, located at No 111 Lincheng East Road in Guanshanhu district, was completed and opened to the public.

It is dedicated to providing high-quality and diverse public cultural services for children aged 18 and under, parents, educators, and more.

To provide children with a good platform for learning, the Guiyang Children's Library not only offers reading services, but also regularly organizes reading sharing sessions, children's book exhibitions, themed exhibitions, and other activities, fostering a love of reading among children.

The Zhongshuge Bookstore, located at the Yunshang Fangzhou shopping center in Guanshanhu district, offers readers a serene space to immerse themselves in the world of books.

The Zhongshuge Bookstore was established in October 2018 and earned the title "Guizhou's most beautiful bookstore" in 2022 for its unique spatial design, promotion of Guizhou's local culture, and encouragement of reading among teenagers.

According to employees of the bookstore, there have been many out-of-town visitors of late. In addition to providing book-related services, the bookstore has displayed local cultural and creative products at the entrance, allowing visitors to not only experience the rich literary atmosphere of Guiyang, but also take home unique cultural products representing Guizhou's intangible heritage.
