Gui'an economy soars in 2023

In 2023, the GDP of Gui'an New Area increased by 24.1 percent compared to the previous year, making it the fastest-growing national-level new area in the country. The economic indicators experienced rapid growth, according to the 2024 work report of the Guiyang Municipal People's Government.

Industrial development is considered the foundation of economic growth. In the past year, Gui'an focused on the construction of three bases and made numerous outstanding achievements.

Efforts were made to accelerate the establishment of a computing power support base providing services to the whole country. Agreements were signed with companies such as Huawei Cloud, Enflame, and Tencent to establish intelligent computing centers, and with State Power Investment Corp, Midea, and NetEase to build data centers.

The revenue of internet-related services and software services exceeded 57 billion yuan. The Guiyang Big Data Sci-Tech Innovation City is now home to 818 big data and related companies.

Emphasis was placed on the construction of new energy vehicle, battery, and material production bases. Major projects, such as the CATL (Guizhou) new energy power and energy storage battery manufacturing base and the Chery (Guizhou) industrial base, were completed and put into operation.

The output value of Gui'an's new energy vehicle, battery and material industry reached 6.2 billion yuan, an increase of 272.6 percent compared to the previous year.

Significant progress was also made in building a critical backup base for industries nationwide. The capacity of companies like Guiyang AECC Power Precision Casting Co in the aviation industry was rapidly expanded, and the industrial ecosystem continued to grow. The output value of the equipment manufacturing industry increased by 19 percent compared to the previous year.

Data showed that in 2023, the Gui'an Free Trade Zone cultivated and introduced more than 40 foreign-trade-oriented enterprises. The total value of the zone's imports and exports reached 10.79 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 24.47 percent. The zone continued to expand its channels, platforms and environment for opening-up.

Today, Gui'an is gradually becoming an attractive destination, a fertile ground for entrepreneurship, and a pleasant place to live. In 2023, the new area witnessed an influx of more than 24,000 talented individuals in various fields.
