According to the Guiyang Bureau of Forestry, Guiyang has established two national forest healthcare bases, three provincial forest healthcare bases, nine provincial forest healthcare pilot bases, and 30 provincial forest healthcare residences.
In recent years, Guiyang and Guian have used the forest chief mechanism to achieve the long-lasting governance of forests. While protecting the forests, Guiyang and Guian are leveraging the advantages of forest resources to promote rural vitalization and high-quality development.
According to Guiyang's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for forestry development, the city will construct two forest healthcare pilot bases, with the goal of utilizing a forest area of 118,000 mu (78,666.67 hectares) by 2025.
Since 2017, a total of 34.9 million yuan has been invested to improve supporting facilities for forest healthcare services and enhance reception capacity. In 2022, 10.56 kilometers of forest healthcare footpaths were completed at the Taoyuan River scenic spot in Xiuwen county and the Guizhou Jingyang forest healthcare pilot base.
Forest healthcare bases encourage various types of market entities to participate in forest healthcare industry infrastructure construction through contracts, leases, and equity cooperation.
Existing houses and construction sites are being fully utilized to build health management centers, guesthouses, forest rehabilitation centers, and other service facilities.
The number of visitors, comprehensive income of bases, and job opportunities all increased year on year. In the first half of 2023, the bases received 247,500 visits, generating a comprehensive income of 26.6 million yuan and providing employment for 1,196 people, with an average monthly income of 2,960 yuan per person.
