The Douguan interchange hub, located in Guiyang, Guizhou and a part of the Guiyang-Jinsha Expressway, has entered its final stage of construction, with traffic security and greening projects currently underway.
Construction on the hub began at the end of 2020 and has been going on for two and a half years. During this time, six crossings have been built over the ring road, three over municipal roads, two over railways, and two over gas pipelines.
The construction team not only faced complex construction conditions but also had to ensure completion on schedule without negatively impacting other traffic organizations or community facilities.
The most challenging part was building the six crossings over the ring road. Since the ring road was in use, carrying out construction without affecting traffic presented a significant challenge, taking eight months to complete.
The Douguan interchange hub is the junction between the Guiyang-Jinsha Expressway and the Guiyang Ring Road. Traffic security facilities are expected to be completed by the end of July.
The Guiyang-Jinsha Expressway is a 165.28-kilometer road with a roadbed width of 33.5 meters and a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
It will reduce travel time from Guiyang to Chengdu from seven hours to six hours.
The development will improve the layout of Guizhou's highway network, enhance the transportation capacity of the Guiyang-Chengdu economic region, accelerate the construction of the central Guizhou economic area, and promote southward development.
