The organizers of the exhibition "A Universal Genius: Salvador Dali" held an unboxing ceremony at the Guiyang International Fashion Release Center in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 23.
The 121 authentic Dali artworks to be exhibited flew from Spain and arrived in Shanghai on April 18. They were then transported to Guiyang, which adopted measures to ensure 5A-level protection, including strictly controlled temperatures and humidity levels, throughout the whole transportation process.
After inspection and release by Guiyang Customs, these artworks arrived at the Guiyang International Fashion Release Center on April 21. According to pre-agreed-upon requirements, after the exhibits arrived at the exhibition venue, they had to be left sealed for two days in order to adapt to Guiyang's climate before the unboxing and hanging process could begin.

The first painting opened was Searching for the Fourth Dimension, which was painted by Dali at the age of 75. It is the largest oil painting in this exhibition, and showcases Dali's thoughts on the passage of time and death.
The second artwork unboxed was Gala Looking at the Hypercubic Christ, depicting Gala, Dali's beloved wife. This is the most important representative work of Dali's "nuclear mysticism" style.
As one of the official activities planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain, the Dali exhibition will run from April 27 to Aug 31.
This will be the first time that the exhibition has been held in Guizhou, and the third time it has been held in China, after the Beijing exhibition in 2000 and the Shanghai exhibition in 2015.
