Yanshanhong town in Baiyun district and Yongjing town in Xifeng county of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, become the first towns in the city to be recognized as provincial park towns on Jan 5.
The title of provincial park town requires that a town have an overall green rate of more than 35 percent, with at least 30 percent in built-up areas, a per capita green area of over 8 square meters, and an ancient-tree protection rate of 100 percent.
The two towns in Guiyang that won the title have adhered to sustainable development and seen an increase in green areas in recent years. Baiyun district's Quanhu park is known as a demonstration park for Guiyang's efforts to become a park city, and integrates tourism, culture and shopping.
Nanshan Yizhan Park in Yongjing town is a rural complex integrating mountain sports, agriculture, rural vitalization and tourism.
