According to statistics, the reconstruction of urban villages and shantytowns in Guiyang has been carried out since 2011, with a total of 432,800 households and an area of 64 million square meters renovated, while the renovation of old residential areas was launched in 2019, with 117,900 households and an area of 8.68 million square meters renovated.
In 2011, Guiyang took the lead in establishing the municipal shed reform functional department in Southwest China's Guizhou province. In June this year, it also took the lead in establishing the urban renewal affairs center in the province, which is responsible for the renovation of shantytowns, old residential areas and back streets.
At the same time, Guiyang has issued a series of supporting documents to strengthen policy support in land transfer, planning indicators, collection and resettlement, and finance, as well as introduced social capital to aid in the renovation.
In addition, the city has further improved the quality of urban space by complementing the short boards of parking lots, installing elevators, and offering property management, elderly care, community health care, public greening and other related services.
