Guiyang has started the construction of 25,700 subsidized rental apartments this year, focusing on solving the affordable housing shortage facing young people.
So far, 3,300 apartments have been delivered, and the city strives to complete the construction of 16,000 sets of subsidized rental apartments for talents by the end of the year.
"Due to the fact that most of the occupants do not have a Guiyang household registration, our company is focusing on supporting services for these apartments," said a person in charge of the project. He added that in order to ensure that the occupants have sufficient public activity space and rich spiritual and cultural lives, apartments are equipped with shared office areas, fitness areas, and coffee shops for the first time.
Gu Wangcheng, a third-year graduate student of Guizhou Normal University, is about to graduate. He intends to work in Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, and has been paying close attention to the construction progress on the apartments.
"For those who have just graduated and started working, living in subsidized rental apartments is becoming more and more popular. The transportation, environment, business district and living circle of these apartments are very developed. If I work in Guiyang, subsidized rental apartments would be my first choice," Gu said.
