Major shantytown renovation project in Guiyang delivers housing

The Jiuzhou Xinyuan urban shantytown resettlement housing construction project, a major shantytown renovation project in Guiyang, has recently carried out on-site handover work. Local residents have received the keys to their new houses.

The project started construction in September 2019 and was completed in May this year. Gas, water supply and other supporting facilities passed inspection and met the requirements for commissioning.

"The shantytown renovation project is a major livelihood project concerning the vital interests of residents. Speeding up construction progress while ensuring safety and quality is the most practical thing we can do for them," said Xu Mingshu, leader of the project.

It has been reported that the total construction area of the project is about 111,749 square meters. The plot includes the Guizhou Diesel Engine General Factory, Guizhou Huacheng Rubber Factory, Guizhou Asbestos Products Factory and other factory dormitory areas, as well as the houses of more than 150 farmers. The construction of some dormitory houses dates back to the 1960s, and most of the houses are old and disorganized with incomplete infrastructure.

The overall renovation of the shantytown will greatly improve the living environment for workers, promoting the urban renewal of Guiyang.
