A candidate for a complete revamp if ever there was one, the old community on Machong Road – located in Yunyan district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guiyang province, was in dire straits.
It was the victim of a dirty and chaotic environment, a sewage crossflow and a number of critical safety hazards, making the need for renovation very urgent.
Most of the buildings were built before 2000. Due to the long-term construction, weak infrastructure, insufficient functional facilities and poor public environment, the problems were serious.
To this end, the Guiyang bureau of housing and urban-rural development recently held more than 10 public discussions and consultations with residents, visited more than 2,300 households and rolled out various reform policy information and proposals.
Through the renovation, dramatic improvements were made to the sewage pipe system and the rainwater ditch and an integrated power communication network was built, improving the environment.
