The Guiyang bureau of housing and urban-rural development recently held a meeting to discuss the supply of accommodation for new hires and rental support for those newly recruited to the city, which is the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Deputy director Lai Zhenglin presided over the meeting. Among those participating were managers at the municipal human resources office, as well as representatives of municipal housing investment companies,  the property rights office of the bureau and a special team for the construction of leased houses.

Guiyang has determined the construction goals for guaranteed rental housing for those hired to join the city's workforce.

It is expected to complete the delivery of 16,000 rooms in affordable rental housing this year and to build some 70,000 rooms for them by 2024.

The goal is to effectively solve the housing shortage for new arrivals, young people and other groups in Guiyang – coordinating the construction of the housing with the city's urban industrial layout and the development of public transportation.

Participants listened to a briefing on the construction program, after which they discussed the occupancy rates, apartment types and post-project operations management, among other things.
