Official interviewed for city renewal campaign

In a recent local interview, Zhou Rong, an official from the Guiyang bureau of housing and urban-rural development, elaborated on how Guiyang plans to organize the city renewal campaign focusing on the renovation of shanty towns, old residential areas, and laneways in the city, and briefly summarized Guiyang's achievements in this regard.

The city has spelled out five actions to boost the campaign, including working out a three-year plan on the renovation work, seeking house expropriation subsidies and incentive measures, and recruiting architects to improve the quality of old residential areas. There are currently nine building design units and 238 specialists participating in the renovation work.

The plan requires that from 2021-23 Guiyang carry out 235 shanty town projects involving 147,000 households, undertake 123 old residential area projects involving 119,000 households, and upgrade 1,106 city laneways.

There are currently 83 shanty town projects, 44 old residential area projects and 360 city laneways under construction.
